Day by Day-
i can't pinpoint an exact moment, but i can feel around what age or time it happened; when i started to live.
to live is the rarest thing in the world.
most people exist, that's all.
how true is that? i spend many nights reflecting on my days and the darkness in my room always brings me back to this question. i contemplate. i ask myself, "am i living or merely existing?"
thankfully, lately i can truthfully say the former.
this year-my first year- in college really changed me. i heard a lot of horror stories about how people became the polar opposite of who they were upon entering- always negative. but, i too became different. i too left changed. except this time, for the better. i guess you can say, coming from a performance arts high school i was already a very insightful, thoughtful person. the fourteen years i spent dancing are years i would never want back. though, they were terribly wonderful years. i've always been very alive, but living in the beautiful mountains shifted me. to the core it transformed me. it was like i had died and then resurrected, but completely new.
i love so much more deeply. i love everything around me, everyone in my life. even people i don't even know. i love life, i love food, i love animals, i just love. it is as if God performed a heart transplant and replaced mine with His.
i finally took the step and gave up all meat, in hopes of eventually going completely vegan. it's better for me, for animals, and for our precious earth.
oh the amazing people i have met this year. never in my life- even being the dreamer that i am- could i have thought up such wonderful human beings. i'm writing more than i have ever in my life. from the letters i have been writing to my future husband since i was fourteen, now i write about everything. i adore my pocket-sized notepad that my lovely bosom friend gave me for my nineteenth-
that's it. that's when it happened. that's the moment. when i turned nineteen my life began all over again. and to think i was dreading that in-between age which i thought to be insignificant- what a foolish girl i was.
but i'm learning. i really am.
