on freedom-

it's good to be back in boone, to be back home. the hardest part though, isn't getting back into the swing of things or the classes, or the new living situation; no that stuff isn't hard at all. the hard part is learning all over again how to let life happen to me. i could have sworn i learned this lesson well over the past few months that was summer break. each day i would awaken the carpe diem from within. now it just seems as if too many expectations are failing me all at once and the weight of what i was so sure would happen- as if it was the proper pattern of these sort of things- is not playing out at all the way it should. then again, these sort of things never do turn out the way we expect them to.

i resolve to live each moment without expectations predetermined by past occurrences; rather i will love the mystery and the questions that arise with each new day. i will love my seconds as they progress into minutes, hours and then days. i will love with intention and freedom. after all love is what frees us to live and that's what i am yearning for more than anything, a life free to be lived.

  1. this reminds me of Rilke in Letters to a Young Poet;

    “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
    ― Rainer Maria Rilke

    I am loving all your writing so much.
