on being back-
here are my latest thoughts about my first week of classes and being back in boone.
1) i really know too many people, seeing that a girl i have never seen before (at least i don't recall) sat next to me in my modern empire's class, and proceeded to tell me how she know's my roommate, where i live, and that i danced with her little sister four years ago. yeah, i need to narrow my social circle a bit.
2) studying abroad is a lot more work than you'd think. i am barely two weeks into the application process, and i am already feeling the weight of all i have to do, as well as the implications of living across the world. nevertheless, the sheer thought of finally riding a bike on a cobblestone road stirs excitement from deep within.
3) i do not want a surprise party. i used to think i did because i like surprises- but i am now sure, i do not want one.
4) i never thought this day would come. i start my very first taxed job on monday. i will be working in admissions calling parents and perspective students-- so this is what employment feels like?
5) i like not being consumed with admiration for someone who doesn't even notice me. maybe long distance infatuation is what i've been missing out on all along; at least this way, my imagination can supersede reality.
and atlas, i will have a successful semester-- and i accept the fact that it just may not be as magical as last. then again, how foolish it would be to expect such competition.
