on sacred moments.

i have finally returned to boone after a most lovely spring break.
i spent the week at home, with my friend jasemin who is studying at my university, from germany.
showing her around the queen city, and getting to spend the evenings eating my mum's delicious food, made it all the more special. this week taught me how much i have taken for granted. how many simple hours have passed unoticed.

but you see, those hours are the most special. the most magical ones really. for it is in them all of time is contained. and there's the paradox: simplicity is the most overwhelming of all.

i took jasemin to amelie's.. a french bakery in the artsy part of charlotte. it's open 24 hours and has the most delicious pastries- of course the best part being that they're french! oh i just melt...

she liked it. i knew she would. but the food wasn't even the best part, the best part was the conversation we had. we spoke of life and love, and traveling. we just laughed and laughed as everything around us seemed to disappear. we told stories of our past loves, and past heartaches. it was in that moment i thought, so this is what life's about.  the sacred moments of intimacy. the moments where we become so vulnerable, so see-through.  we are most alive here; when we release the burden of guarding our selfhood in an attempt to avoid exposure. but if we admit it, what we're actually afraid of is finding out for ourselves who we really are. and that's what the sacred moments of intimacy are for, to take away some of the burden's weight- because it gets so heavy at times.

i am seeing more and more that each day brings with it a lesson. sometimes the lessons overlap, and sometimes they are completely different. my favorites are the one's that shake you from the core of your being, making new again. in this life there exists time: seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years. but we don't have to be trapped by time. and if we just silence ourselves, we can hear the soft whispers within the said intervals. the thing is, they are all in one accord... all whispering the same word: simplify.

make way for the simple hours.
