on summers closing & autumn's calling-
i returned for my last week+ some days in boone before i am off to study in england. it's such a strange feeling being here, but not actually preparing for life here in the coming months. though it is bittersweet, i feel as if this summers closing is beckoning me onward, homeward. a strange notion it is to set out in discovery of home. indeed, i have found my home here in the mountains, but now it's time to find another place my heart can call home. so much change is taking place, so much life. i am in complete and utter awe of what is happening in my life, and those i love so deeply.
as sad as some moments have been, i am reminded of Charles Baudelaire's words: “I can barely conceive of a type of beauty in which there is no Melancholy.”

my dear friend, james- o so bashful!
truly, one is never too old to climb a tree- never lose that childlike wonder!
jane austen book club continues in the most unexpected of places...
there are points of separation within the branches, yet always there exists the promise of coming together again. what a gift this tree was as i sat in it with kels reading austen's words, i was reminded of this beautiful ancient chinese proverb:
“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.”
and a beautiful reminder it is- it will never break...
Oh, Jane Austen :) Was my special topic for my oral school-leaving exam in English.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best for England!
And I'm definitely going to tell you if I'm in Paris in December.
