on the boo boo house, and summer shenanigans-
there's this house below my flat, a house of seven boys and two wolf dogs. the number of boys change as the dogs remain the same, but o how that house is some kind of magic. a mystery i hope to unravel this summer. you see, these seven boys come from different places, they have different faces, and yet their life is connected through the common nomadic ground of this unpredictable and wildly beautiful life. our interaction with this house of boys began from a shout out the window as it faces their roof's direction. while cooking i yelled, "hey you guys didn't invite us!" that was the beginning and the end of so much. my beckoning words returned to me in the form of two boys at my doorstep and the most beautiful smiles i had seen in such a shamefully long-suffering time. that coleman's laugh; if it isn't some kind of contagious then i don't know what is. then bryan stood on my front porch playing a form of the flute, and i was transported into narnia. my roommate asks what is the name of their house as we explained ours is the maxi pad (four girls and the pun is intended, but that's another story about how we acquired this name for our flat). as the two boys stood on my front porch coleman replied, "the boo boo house."
magic happened to me in the guise of two boys and a welcome to spend summer days on their roof doing whatever suits my fancy. i wasn't demanding anything, but i was hopeful. i woke up with hope in my heart, and a desire to let it come as it may. the story takes off from there, as we're still in the beginning of it-or perhaps this is the middle... do we ever know?
this first chapter i title, infinite hopes, no demands. as hopes i have many- o i cannot contain them all.
such as my hope of returning to england this december. christmas in spain?
a german new years eve?
no demands, only infinite hopes...

Your last words in this post are my new mantra! IT's so perfect, my darling friend.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent mantra indeed. I must give credit to my campus minister's wife. She spoke those words at a woman's retreat- to this day they echo.
