On the invisible thread and old friends-

I am convinced there are few things better for the soul than dedicating a weekend to getaway with old friends, to remember old times while creating new memories. There are few things closer to heaven on earth than this.

"One of the things I like about looking at pictures when you're young and also meeting back with old friends you haven't seen in a long time is, for me, it's a glimpse of who I was."
 -Lea Thompson

"I love everything that's old, - old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine."
 -Oliver Goldsmith

We're scattered in different cities, states, countries even. We have full time jobs, some are in grad school, and others don't quite know what they're doing yet. No matter how much time changes things, our souls are connected through a history we built in a mountain town not long ago. Indeed the day will come when not long ago is in fact a long time ago. We'll line up just like this with arms linked, the corners of our eyes laced with more wrinkles each time, our bodies a bit more aged than the last photo taken-- and with linked arms we'll capture the then present moment. We will continue to make new memories with the knowledge that this is the only sure thing in a life painted in unknowns. And time, once an enemy of youth, will be the invisible thread that has held us together since the beginning.
